Here are a few awesome, yet simple ideas for party food – some that can be readied the day of the party, and some others to prepare in advance.
The ideal wholesome food that can be readied in a jiffy, even the morning of the party. You can keep the fillings simple, tasty and kid-friendly with a variety of the following: Plain Cheese, Ham, and cheese, Chicken and mayo, Vegemite, Avocado, jam or honey.
You can have different fun shapes and sizes with biscuit cutters or with different types of bread, like wraps.
- Sausage rolls
These kid-friendly items can be either store-bought or prepared ahead and frozen. Sausage Rolls, apple, and fennel sausage Rolls, Pork, etc. can add enough variety to keep a bunch of rowdy kids (and harried grownups) at bay.
- Fairy bread
This can be prepared fresh on the morning of the party. You can choose to go with the classic triangles or get adventurous with biscuit cutters. There are several ideas you could get inspired from.
- Vegetable sticks/fritters, Crackers, and dips

Can be readied before and stored in an air-tight container or readied instantly on short notice. Doesn’t matter whether if it’s plain or flavored – quick and straightforward always makes it a hit.
- Party pizzas
Pizza bases and toppings can be readied ahead, and you can also opt this to be part of the party activities having the attendees top up their own pizzas.
- Cheese straws
In addition to the classic combination of puff pastry and cheese, get creative with the shapes you turn them into and name them to suit any party theme – be it sailors knots at a pirate party, magic wands at a fairy party, or even T-Rex fossil bones for a dinosaur themed party!
